Tuna Chilled Fresh Fishing Vessel

CB has dedicated itself to the R&D and site implementation refrigeration systems for deep-sea tuna fishing vessels. We develop and supply standardized equipment for coastal tuna longline fishing vessels, meeting the demands of for rapid chilling and reservation of caught tuna.

Adopting slurry ice technology, we have designed special units exclusively for tuna chilled fishing vessels. It solves the quality deterioration of chilled tuna caused by temperature fluctuations during chilling and temperature regulation in conventional chilled seawater fishing vessels.

This technology has been widely deployed on tuna longline chilled fishing vessels operating across the South Pacific.

Slurry Ice Technology – Superior Chilling and Preservation Solution

Slurry ice cooling is an advanced application technology. Characterized by full encapsulation, ultra-fast chilling and outstanding fluidity, it delivers substantial gains in production capacity and economic benefits for operators.

Slurry ice constitutes the optimal solution for rapid temperature reduction right after tuna capture. Its smooth, fine ice crystals fully wrap around fish bodies without scratching the flesh. In addition, it releases cold energy rapidly, cutting chilling time to just one-third of that required by traditional chilled seawater systems.

By adjusting the volume of slurry ice, caught tuna can be kept steadily in a constant chilled state without freezing, effectively extending the fresh-keeping period. It delivers a convenient and reliable temperature control solution, prolonging the shelf life of tuna to 12–15 days.

Customized Slurry Ice System for Chilled Fresh Tuna Fishing Vessel

Most tuna chilled fishing vessels feature compact hull, cramped engine room and limited space for equipment installation. The slurry ice units from CB has overall width of 66 cm with an ultra-compact structure, perfectly suited for installation in narrow cabin space.

Specially designed for marine operating conditions, the units withstand harsh offshore environments with high salinity and humidity, as well as constant vessel rolling and pitching, enabling non-stop 24-hour continuous operation.

The control logic is tailored to fishermen’s daily operation habits; startup and shutdown functions align seamlessly with fishing procedures, greatly easing operational workload for crew members.

Adapted to Offshore Fishing Conditions to Boost Vessel Operating Returns

Slurry ice can be continuously produced and stored in fish holds while the vessel is in voyage. Tuna catches are unpredictable, and abundant cold reserves are essential during peak fishing periods. Stocked slurry ice enables instant rapid pre-cooling of large batches of tuna, preventing quality degradation and economic losses from delayed and insufficient cooling.

Furthermore, the units need lower installed power requirement, eliminating the need for large-capacity generator and improving the vessel’s operational cost-efficiency remarkably.
