On May 20, Guo Xin No.1, the world’s first 100,000-ton large scale aquaculture vessel, was delivered and put into operation in Qingdao. China’s deep sea large aquaculture vessel industry achieved a milestone leap from zero to one, taking a national lead in advancing marine culture from inshore waters to the open deep sea.
With an overall hull length of 249.9 m, displacement of 130,000 tons and deadweight tonnage of 100,000 tons, the vessel adopts the pioneering “hull mounted tank culture” mode for breeding premium fish species including large yellow croaker, grouper and Atlantic salmon. By utilizing premium seawater resources worldwide, it supplies high quality marine protein for China, representing a new frontier of industrial aquaculture as China’s offshore aquaculture.
As the supplier of the complete solution for the vessel processing system, CB delivered a full scope production line for large yellow croaker processing system. It reaches a daily capacity of 100 tons for chilled fish and 30 tons for frozen fish.
Large yellow croakers harvested from culture tanks go through sedation, conveying and pre chilling. They can be processed as chilled or frozen products according to production schedules.

The chilled processing workflow employs slurry ice pre cooling for sedation and preservation. Live large yellow croakers are rapidly sedated, with core body temperature quickly brought down to 0~ 2 °C. This mitigates fish stress response and effectively preserves the characteristic golden skin color of large yellow croaker. Stored at 1 °C, fish cell physiological conditions are “frozen in” right at the moment of death, so chilled fish delivers freshness comparable to live fish.
For frozen fish processing, slurry ice pre cooling is combined with quick freeze tunnel freezing. Fish core temperature drops rapidly to -18 °C before cold chain storage. The quality of final frozen products outperforms output from standalone quick freezing processes.
The chilled processing system is equipped with Marel marine grade weighing and grading equipment. High precision weight grading and box packing improve economic returns for the vessel owner. Integrated with Innova production management software, it enables effective process control and real time performance monitoring data, supporting process optimization and higher operational efficiency, thus helping vessel owners enhance product quality and commercial value.

The ABP slurry ice system consists of multiple slurry ice generator units, modularly installed inside the machinery room. Via pumps and pipelines, slurry ice of varying concentrations is distributed to each processing station on the production line for rapid pre chilling and box packing of harvested large yellow croaker. It safeguards superior fish quality while significantly cutting labor demand and boosting processing throughput.

Slurry ice plays an indispensable role on aquaculture vessel. It is deployed across every station of the automatic production line. Freshly harvested large yellow croakers enter sedation tanks filled with slurry ice to achieve sedation and avoid stress reactions during subsequent processing. Next, fish are conveyed into slurry ice pre chilling tanks. As slurry ice melts and releases cooling energy, fish core temperature swiftly drops close to freezing point, securing premium chilled fish quality. After pre-chilling, fish go through weighing and sorting, then box packed for preservation by specification. High concentration slurry ice filling is critical at the packing stage. ABP slurry ice system achieves timed, metered injection of high density slurry ice, maintaining top tier chilled quality of large yellow croaker inside each box and extending shelf life.
